SHAZAY SMARAGD was developed for the European market to make it quick, easy and commercially viable to offer professional HeadSpa treatments. Particular attention was paid to an ergonomic working height and technical testing by TÜV SÜD. The integrated fresh-water and wastewater tanks eliminate the need for water inlet and drain connections. Only a standard, individually fused 230-volt socket is required for operation. Water – at the heart of SHAZAY and every spa
At the heart of SHAZAY is its Diamond Filtered Water. Water is central to everything we develop: it transports nutrients and oxygen to the cells and helps the kidneys remove waste products. We also remain mindful of its ecological and climatic importance and therefore use this precious resource sparingly.
Water consumption
The SMARAGD HeadSpa treatment bed features a fresh-water tank and a wastewater tank, providing enough capacity for approximately two treatments. While rinsing the hair and scalp can use around 15 litres per minute and showering around 40 litres per minute, the SMARAGD HeadSpa treatment bed requires only just over 3 litres of water per minute.
Water tanks and hygiene
To maintain the cleanliness of the tanks, they are emptied and rinsed at the end of each day. Depending on the frequency of treatments, they are also cleaned and disinfected using our active cleaning powder. Clean and safe – just as clients and public health authorities expect.
Ready to use without complex alterations
The integrated tank system makes SHAZAY SMARAGD particularly easy to implement. Fresh water and wastewater are managed through internal tanks, so no permanent water connection is required. This allows HeadSpa to be integrated into existing salons and studios much more quickly and flexibly.

The Dhara shower arch for SHAZAY HeadSpa treatment beds
No feature is more iconic of HeadSpa than the Dhara shower arch. Its purpose is to allow water to flow evenly and gently along defined – rather than arbitrary – pathways from the temples and forehead, across the crown and over the back of the head. The knowledge required for this technique is taught in our training courses. And the SHAZAY Dhara shower arch is perfectly designed for precisely this purpose.
Shirodhara oil treatment vs water-based Dhara
Our treatments using the Dhara shower arch are inspired by the Ayurvedic Shirodhara oil treatment. A continuous stream of warmed oil flows onto the client’s forehead and spreads to the sides and back across the head.
Naturally, water – even our Diamond Filtered Water – and oil have very different properties in terms of viscosity and surface tension. Oil, in particular, spreads across a wider surface area.
Water consumption with the SHAZAY Dhara arch
A conventional shower arch can consume an enormous 150 litres of water, depending on the duration of the treatment. For us, that is not an option. We therefore operate the Dhara in circulation mode using 750 to 1,500 ml of Diamond Filtered Water, depending on the length of the hair.
Diamond Filtered Water
A Dhara treatment lasts approximately 20 minutes at around 38°C. The quality of the water is crucial.
Why not use tap water?
In circulation mode, Legionella and other microorganisms can multiply rapidly at these temperatures.
Why not use distilled water?
Because it contains no minerals, prolonged use may, through osmosis, draw minerals, natural moisturising factors (NMF) and lipids from the upper layers of the skin.
Diamond Filtered Water – the basis for Dhara treatments
SHAZAY Diamond Filtered Water is purified using a patented process. Valuable minerals are retained, while bacteria, viruses and spores are completely removed. It therefore combines hygienic safety with a skin-friendly mineral concentration – ideal for longer Dhara treatments.
